Maintenance Technician required for a busy workshop servicing and maintaining a varied fleet of rental vehicles.

Location: Southampton (Romsey)

Pay: £15.69 - £16.00 per hour (circa £35,000+ per year depending on experience)

Joining Bonus: £1,500 (£750 paid in your first month's salary and £750 after successful completion of your 90-day probation)

Job Type: Permanent | Full Time

Working Hours: Workshop based role working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours between 7:00am and 6:00pm, with most technicians working 8:00am - 5:00pm. No weekend work required. Saturday overtime is entirely optional and paid at enhanced rates.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Technician, Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, Automotive Technician or Service Technician to join one of the UK's largest commercial vehicle rental and fleet businesses. Working from a modern workshop, you'll carry out servicing, preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs across a varied fleet of vehicles, helping to ensure they remain safe, reliable and ready for customers.

You’ll gain experience working on a wide range of vehicles, including:

  • Cars
  • Vans and light commercial vehicles
  • HGVs
  • Refrigerated vehicles
  • Electric vehicles
  • Specialist fleet vehicles

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical workshop work and wants to continue developing their technical skills within a supportive and well-equipped environment.

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine servicing and scheduled maintenance on fleet vehicles
  • Complete brake, tyre and general mechanical repairs
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure they meet safety and compliance standards
  • Identify worn or damaged components before they result in vehicle breakdowns
  • Carry out repairs and replace parts to manufacturer and company standards
  • Use workshop systems to accurately record completed work
  • Road test vehicles where appropriate and licence permits
  • Complete work to a high standard whilst maintaining a safe and organised workshop

Maintenance Technician Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification (NVQ, IMI, City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Practical workshop experience carrying out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
  • Good understanding of vehicle inspections, brakes, suspension, steering and general mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a busy workshop team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop

Technicians with a Level 2 qualification who are looking to progress to Level 3 are encouraged to apply, with structured training and development available.
