Based in Middlesex, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with lead electrical engineers to define robust mechanical assemblies that securely house and protect sensitive electronic components. Using 3D CAD tools such as NX, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will demonstrate that designs meet demanding environmental and performance specifications and will present analysis at internal design reviews and to customers where required.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical solutions for rugged military electronic products in Middlesex
- Evaluate specifications and produce compliant mechanical designs covering thermal, vibration, shock and acceleration requirements
- Act as technical authority for mechanical design on allocated projects in Middlesex
- Lead mechanical peer reviews, ensuring best practice across design, production and test
- Mentor and support other engineers within the Middlesex engineering team
- Liaise from concept through NPI with electronics, production engineering and operations teams
- Support programme planning, work package definition and cost control in Middlesex
Qualifications / Experience
- Proven experience designing for rugged military or demanding commercial environments
- Strong understanding of configuration control and change management
- Experience with thermal analysis and thermal design of electronic equipment
- Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Test (DFMA/T) expertise
- Proficiency with NX / Teamcenter or similar CAD and PLM systems
