We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer in Redditch with a leading global manufacturer serving the aerospace and defence sectors. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and improving quality systems, processes and standards throughout the business. Working closely with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers and customers, you will lead quality improvement initiatives, support new product introductions, investigate quality concerns and ensure compliance with industry and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and maintain quality standards, procedures and systems across manufacturing operations.
- Support the development, launch and continuous improvement of products, processes and services through Advanced Quality Planning activities.
- Lead and support cross-functional process improvement projects.
- Analyse quality metrics and performance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies including 8D, Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis.
- Prepare and manage corrective action reports and quality improvement plans.
- Provide technical quality support to manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
- Host customer audits, source inspections and regulatory assessments.
- Lead and participate in internal quality system audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Support supplier quality activities, including supplier performance monitoring, audits and corrective action management.
- Work closely with supply chain teams to reduce supplier risk and improve supplier quality performance.
- Ensure timely resolution of internal and supplier non-conformances.
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, process capability and operational excellence.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced quality professionals.
- Support employee training relating to quality standards, customer requirements and best practices.
- Supervise team members where required, including performance management and development activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Alternatively, significant manufacturing and quality experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing processes.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive or advanced manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 and other recognised quality management systems.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP and PFMEA methodologies.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement training.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr) qualifications.
- Previous people leadership or supervisory experience.
