A leading advanced engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior TWT Development Engineer to join their team in Middlesex. This is a highly technical opportunity for a Senior TWT Development Engineer to work on cutting edge microwave and high power electronic systems in a collaborative environment based in Middlesex. This role will also support new product introduction, act as a technical authority across key product lines, and provide engineering input during bid and customer engagement processes. The Senior TWT Development Engineer will be instrumental in driving innovation and continuous improvement across engineering practices in Middlesex.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and develop high performance TWT systems to meet cost, quality, and timeline requirements
- Support feasibility studies, concept development, and bid stage technical input
- Develop mechanical designs aligned with DFMA principles for efficient manufacturing
- Ensure designs withstand environmental factors such as heat, vibration, and shock
- Support transition from design into production, ensuring manufacturability and repeatability
- Analyse product yield and drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Experience
- Strong experience in TWT or similar high power RF / microwave tube design
- Knowledge of electrical and RF testing methods
- Experience designing for manufacture and assembly within complex engineering environments
- Understanding of materials and processes within vacuum technology systems
- Experience working within production and manufacturing environments
- Proven ability to deliver engineering projects to cost and schedule
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as CST or similar is desirable
- Exposure to automation, 3D printing, or AI driven engineering methods is advantageous
- MSc in Physics or equivalent qualification
The ideal candidate will be organised, results driven, and capable of working across multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach are essential for success in this role.
