The Role
We are seeking an experienced Contract Test Development Engineer to support a major semiconductor equipment project based on-site in Scotland. This role will focus heavily on test equipment automation and development, including both hardware and software elements. For project requirements, candidates must be based in the UK or EU, or hold a valid EU passport. You will be responsible for developing, debugging, and integrating automated test solutions, as well as supporting manual test processes and training manufacturing engineers. This is a hands-on role working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support automated test solutions using NI TestStand and LabVIEW
- Write and interpret test specifications
- Support hardware design and schematic capture for test systems
- Debug, integrate, and implement ATE and manual test processes for electronic systems
- Train and mentor manufacturing engineers on test software, coding, and design requirement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure testing aligns with project goals
- Contribute to ongoing semiconductor equipment projects, ensuring timely delivery
Key Skills
- Strong experience with NI TestStand, LabVIEW, and Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
- Proven background in test equipment automation and development
- Experience with hardware design and schematics capture
- Solid knowledge of digital and analogue electronics
- Experience developing, debugging, and integrating test solutions in a manufacturing or R&D environment
- Ability to train and support engineers on test systems and processes
- Flexible approach to working hours (shift coverage preferred)
