A newly created Sales Director opportunity within a well-established, design-led electronics solutions business. This is a key leadership hire, introduced to bring structure, ownership, and strategic direction to a growing sales organisation. Reporting directly into the Group Engineering & Marketing Director, this is a statutory director-level role with full responsibility for commercial performance and sales leadership across the UK business.
You will take ownership of the entire sales function, leading a team of Sales Managers and wider technical sales teams. With around 6 direct reports and 30+ indirect, this role requires someone comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level. This is not an account management role; your focus will be on leadership, performance, and driving growth, while still remaining close to customers and supporting the team on key opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:- Own and deliver the overall sales strategy, aligned to business growth objectives
- Full P&L and EBIT responsibility for the sales function
- Lead and develop Sales Managers and multi-layered sales teams
- Drive pipeline growth and improve conversion (design-in led sales environment)
- Implement robust forecasting processes and ensure high pipeline accuracy
- Strengthen key customer and supplier relationships at a senior level
- Work closely with Finance (FD) and HR to drive performance, structure, and reviews
- Manage upwards effectively, engaging with a hands-on and detail-focused board
- Proven experience in a Sales Director / Head of Sales role within electronics, components, or technical engineering environments
- Demonstrated P&L and EBIT ownership (essential)
- Experience managing managers and layered sales structures, not just direct reports
- Strong commercial acumen across forecasting, contracts, and margin delivery
- Engineering or technical background with understanding of design-in sales
- Confident operating at board level, with the ability to challenge constructively
- Experience working cross-functionally with finance and HR
