A leading RF and microwave technology business is seeking a Lead RF/mmWave Design Engineer to play a key role in driving technical delivery and guiding a high-performing engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll combine deep RF expertise with team mentorship, shaping the development of advanced telecommunications and defence systems.
The Role
As a Lead RF/mmWave Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of RF design strategy and execution, while supporting and developing engineers across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to production. You’ll act as a technical authority within the team, ensuring best-in-class design practices and high-performance delivery across complex RF and mmWave systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of RF engineers, providing technical guidance and support
- Own the design and development of RF/mmWave circuits, modules, and systems
- Drive best practice across transmission lines, filters, couplers, and synthesiser/multiplier design
- Oversee simulation, modelling, and performance optimisation (ADS, CST, EMPro, Microwave Office)
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in RF, Microwave, or Communications Engineering (or similar)
- Strong background in RF / microwave circuit and system design
- Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers (formal or informal leadership)
- Proven use of industry-standard RF tools (ADS, CST, EMPro, etc.)
- Experience with transceiver design and high-frequency PCB development
- Hands-on, solutions-driven mindset with strong technical ownership
