We’re recruiting an Embedded Software Engineer for a growing technology company developing advanced RF and communications systems for the Space, Aerospace, Defence and Telecommunications sectors. You’ll join a multidisciplinary engineering team and develop embedded software for complex electronic products, working closely with hardware, FPGA, RF and systems engineers throughout the full development lifecycle.
The role
- Develop embedded software in C/C++ for ARM-based microcontrollers
- Work across bare-metal and RTOS environments, including FreeRTOS and Zephyr
- Bring up and debug new prototype hardware
- Develop embedded communications using Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I²C, UART and RS422
- Support networking functionality such as TCP/IP, REST APIs and SNMP
- Integrate software with RF, FPGA and electronic hardware
- Troubleshoot embedded software, networking and system-level issues
- Contribute from initial concept through to production and manufacture
What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial embedded C/C++ experience
- Experience with bare-metal systems and/or an RTOS
- Practical hardware bring-up and debugging skills
- Knowledge of embedded communication protocols
- Experience with STM32, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, TCP/IP, secure bootloaders, firmware updates, Python, MISRA or RF systems would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
Salary of £65,000 - £75,000, depending on experience. Option to purchase five additional holiday days. Up to 8% employer pension contribution. Life assurance and income protection. EV and Cycle to Work schemes. Career development and training opportunities.
