Engineering Technician – RF, Electronics & Manufacturing – Cambridge, England An Engineering Technician job is available in Cambridge with a leading technology business specialising in the design and manufacture of advanced RF and microwave solutions for the Space, Aerospace, Defence and Telecommunications markets. We are seeking a practical and technically minded Engineering Technician with experience in electronics, RF, manufacturing or a similar engineering environment. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting RF, electronics and mechanical development, with the opportunity to develop a broad range of engineering skills. Based in Cambridge, you will provide practical engineering support across the development, assembly and testing of high-performance products, working alongside RF, electronics, software and mechanical engineers to take designs from prototype through to production. Responsibilities of the Engineering Technician job in Cambridge • Supporting RF and electronic testing and measurement, using equipment including network analysers, signal generators, power meters and oscilloscopes. • Carrying out soldering, PCB rework, prototype fault-finding and component replacement, alongside cable, RF cable assembly and electrical wiring harness manufacture. • Supporting mechanical assembly, prototype builds and engineering development, including the production of components, fixtures and test jigs using 3D printing and CNC equipment. • Maintaining laboratory equipment, recording test results and engineering data, running basic automated test scripts and working with engineers to resolve practical technical problems. Requirements of the Engineering Technician job in Cambridge • Practical engineering experience within electronics, RF, manufacturing or a similar technical environment, with experience using electronic test and measurement equipment. • Experience with soldering and/or PCB rework, with the ability to read basic schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings. • Basic test automation or scripting experience, preferably using Python or MATLAB; experience with cable/wiring harness assembly would be advantageous. • A practical, methodical approach with strong attention to detail; experience with 3D printing, CNC machining or CAD would be beneficial, alongside a willingness to develop skills across different engineering disciplines.
