An exciting opportunity has arisen for an RF Design Engineer in Fareham to join a specialist engineering company developing advanced RF and radio communication systems used in defence, government, and secure communications environments. This role would suit an engineer with strong experience in RF transmitter and receiver design, particularly within UHF or low GHz frequency bands, who enjoys working across the full product development lifecycle from concept through to production.
The Role
As an RF Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of RF hardware used within specialist radio systems.
Responsibilities
- Designing RF transmitters and receivers, primarily in UHF bands
- Developing low-power RF circuits and power amplifiers
- Testing and validating RF designs using RF test equipment
- Supporting designs through prototype, verification, and production
- Producing technical documentation including test procedures and assembly drawings
- Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ensuring designs meet CE / UKCA and relevant regulatory standards
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar
- Experience designing RF transmitters and receivers
- Strong understanding of RF circuits, antennas, and radio systems
- Experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analysers and vector network analysers
- Understanding of the product development lifecycle
- Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR)
- Knowledge of analogue or digital electronics design
- Experience with Matlab, Python, VHDL, or C
This position is primarily on-site due to the hands-on nature of RF hardware design and testing, working closely with engineering teams and lab equipment.
