I'm currently working with an exciting and innovative client in the electronics and advanced technology space who is looking to bring a Senior PCB Layout Engineer into their growing engineering team based in Hayes, Middlesex. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact projects where your expertise in PCB layout, Altium, and design for EMC will be key in shaping complex electronic systems used in demanding environments. You’ll work closely with highly skilled engineers across disciplines to take designs from concept to production, ensuring performance, compliance, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities:
- Capturing schematics and delivering high-quality PCB layouts using ALTIUM Designer
- Managing and validating the PCB component library
- Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and production teams to support new product development
- Ensuring compliance with IPC standards, high-voltage clearance rules, and EMC design best practices
- Supporting internal and customer-facing design reviews
- Contributing to DFM and test planning from early design stages
- Managing documentation, BOMs, and change control processes
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience in PCB layout and schematic capture
- Strong knowledge of ALTIUM, including library and layout management
- Experience with flex-rigid, metal-backed PCBs, and mixed analogue/digital board designs
- Comfortable designing for controlled impedance, high-speed signals, and switch-mode power supplies
- Ability to interpret and work from electronic schematics and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with creepage/clearance, EMC design practices, and IPC standards
Preferred Background:
- BSc or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Experience working within high-reliability or safety-critical environments
- Familiarity with configuration management and product documentation tools
