We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a global company based in Buckinghamshire that makes high-tech lab instruments used in science, healthcare, and environmental testing. You’ll help design and build the next generation of precision equipment that scientists rely on every day.
What You’ll Do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- Design mechanical parts and systems for high-precision instruments, including moving mechanisms, structures, and thermal systems.
- Work closely with teams across software, electronics, optics, and manufacturing to make sure designs work in the real world.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD, and make sure parts fit together perfectly.
- Test prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and help move designs into production.
- Focus on making products reliable, easy to assemble, and ready for long-term use.
Requirement for a Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- 5+ years of design experience in high-tech products, like scientific instruments, medical devices, or aerospace.
- Strong understanding of physics and movement (kinematics).
- Experience with complex mechanisms and mixed materials (metal, plastics).
- Experience with optics: mounting and adjusting lenses, mirrors, or sensors.
- Skilled in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and PDM systems.
- Hands-on experience building and testing prototypes.
Nice-to-Have:
- Knowledge of electronics shielding (EMC) and automation (motors, actuators).
- Familiar with industry regulations like CE, UL, or RoHS.
- Experience testing and validating opto-mechanical systems.
