Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer with a proven track record of solving complex engineering problems to join a growing engineering team based in Southampton. This role focuses on the design, development, and lifecycle support of electrical and instrumentation systems used within advanced load-monitoring products. You’ll act as the technical authority for electrical and control elements across new product development and bespoke monitoring solutions, helping deliver reliable systems deployed in demanding industrial and marine environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical and instrumentation design for load-cell-based systems, including sensor interfaces, signal conditioning, PLC/embedded control, and system integration.
  • Produce schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and technical documentation using tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or SkyCAD.
  • Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, EMC considerations, safe wiring practices, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Act as the technical authority during design reviews and cross-functional engineering decisions.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent experience (required).
  • Demonstrable experience as an Electrical / Instrumentation Engineer in a relevant sector (measurement systems, industrial automation, lifting equipment, marine systems, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, instrumentation, and sensor signal processing.
