We are working with a well-established UK manufacturer of advanced composite and polymer materials, supplying into sectors such as defence, aerospace, and rail. They are looking to add a Design Engineer to their technical team, supporting the creation of high-quality technical data, drawings, and product information to enable accurate quoting, manufacturing, and delivery.

The Role

This position sits between design and manufacturing, with a strong focus on engineering drawings, product data, and production support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and updating engineering drawings, including parts, assemblies, and tooling
  • Reviewing customer drawings for clarity and tolerance accuracy
  • Creating and managing parts, BOMs, routings, and structures within ERP systems (IFS)
  • Supporting production, engineering, and sales with technical queries
  • Carrying out engineering calculations (e.g. bearing applications)
  • Managing change requests and updating technical documentation

Requirements

  • Experience producing and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Strong CAD experience
  • Experience with BOMs and ERP/MRP systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances, and materials
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
