Our client is a UK based engineering organisation specialising in advanced RF, microwave and millimetre wave technologies. The business designs and manufactures high performance communication systems used across telecommunications, aerospace, defence and space applications.

This Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role involves designing and developing precision mechanical structures for advanced RF and microwave products used in telecommunications, aerospace, defence, and space applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design for manufacture, assembly and cost reduction activities across CNC machining, die casting, additive manufacturing and sheet metal processes.
  • Lead the design of precision mechanical components and assemblies for RF and microwave modules and systems, including lightweight structural enclosures, heatsinks, liquid cooling solutions and waveguide based architectures.
  • Create and review detailed three dimensional CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Conduct and review structural and dynamic analysis using finite element methods for vibration, shock, fatigue and other load conditions typical of high reliability payload environments.
  • Oversee build and testing of mechanical prototypes and development hardware.
  • Work with test and process teams to develop production tooling, jigs and fixtures.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills, with SolidWorks preferred.
