We’re partnering with a growing, values-driven accountancy firm that blends traditional expertise with a forward-thinking, advisory-led approach - and they’re hiring a Part-Time Assistant Accountant to join their friendly team!
- Hours: Flexible - School-hours role (approx. 9am–2/3pm), Monday–Friday or 4 days per week
- Contract: Permanent, part-time
- Travel: You’ll need a full driving licence and your own car
What You’ll Do
In this role you’ll support a portfolio of owner-managed businesses with day-to-day finance operations, including:
- Bookkeeping & Reconciliations: Maintain ledgers, process invoices, and manage bank/cash reconciliations using cloud tools (Xero, Dext, FreeAgent, QuickBooks)
- VAT & Tax: Prepare and file VAT returns; assist with year-end financials and corporate tax returns
- Management Accounts: Help produce accurate monthly management accounts for client review
- Client Liaison: Onboard new clients, liaise with HMRC, and advise on best practice
- Business Development: Represent the firm at local networking events when needed
- MAAT-qualified (or working towards it) / QBE (Qualified By Experience) with solid bookkeeping and accounts-prep experience in practice.
- Meticulous attention to detail and able to balance competing client deadlines
- Confident using Xero accounting software and advanced Excel
- Friendly, professional communicator who builds strong client relationships
- Ambitious about your own CPD and keen to stay ahead of industry developments
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own car for occasional client visits
