Our client is seeking a Software Tester who can rapidly pick up and support the Software Development functionalities across the whole business. They are a cutting-edge software company specialising in the financial services markets. Although the role will be predominantly manual testing, they are currently implementing testing automation and the successful candidate is likely to be exposed to automated testing as part of their role.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of financial services experience and be able to work within a dynamic and changing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual testing of web applications/web services - both backend and front-end sides
- New development/fixes/support issues testing
- Regression testing/Smoke testing
- Driving test cases from specifications and user stories written in Gherkin notation
- Logging defects to bug tracking system and managing them
- Writing test approach, plans or strategies
- Communication with development team and management
Essential Skills
- Degree educated, ideally in a technical subject
- Minimum 5 years of manual functional software testing experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Analytical thinking/quick learner with a good attention to detail
- Experience in testing web applications
- Ability to write test cases, execute test scripts and document test results
- Problem solving skills
- Familiarity with structured and unstructured testing methods
- Practical experience of using SQL
- Experience of setting up and using test automation tools
Desirable Skills
- Experience in Investments / Pensions / Savings
- Experience in cross browser and cross device testing
- Familiarity with Gherkin notation
- ISEB / ISTQB certification
- Experience using Microsoft Team Foundation Server and JIRA
- Familiarity with XML
