Job Purpose: To carry out painting and maintenance of building fabrics across the food manufacturing site, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with health and safety regulations. The role requires working at height and in sensitive production areas, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform internal and external painting of building fabrics including walls, ceilings, doors, and structural elements.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as required.
  • Use appropriate materials and techniques suitable for food-safe environments.
  • Operate access equipment safely and efficiently (IPAF certification required).
  • Conduct routine inspections and touch-ups to maintain site standards.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to minimize disruption.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Adhere to site hygiene, safety, and environmental policies.

Working Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 06:30-15:00 (0.5 hour unpaid break)
  • Friday: 06:30-14:00 (0.5 hour unpaid break)

Requirements:

  • Time-served painter with proven experience in industrial or commercial environments.
  • IPAF certification – essential for working at height.
  • Knowledge of painting systems suitable for food-safe environments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Painting & Decorating (desirable).
  • Knowledge of various painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing methods.
  • Experience working in occupied properties and managing customer expectations.
  • Familiarity with COSHH and safe handling of materials.

Desirable:

  • Experience in food manufacturing or similar regulated environments.
  • Basic understanding of other building maintenance tasks (e.g., plastering, minor repairs).
