About The Role

Our Communications Division are currently looking out for Data / Communications Trainee Engineers. Installation of Structured Cabling Systems is utilized for many Modern‑Day Networked Technologies, such as:

  • Networked outlets
  • Telephony outlets
  • IT peripheral devices
  • POE security cameras
  • Wireless access points
  • IPTV
  • Fiber backbone networks
  • PA & AV installations

Summary

Data & communication structured cabling engineers fulfil an essential role in the modern world of technology by designing and installing the complex cable plans for communication & networked systems, including the layout of structured cabling systems for equipment installations as well as expansions for existing networked systems. In addition, they solve technical engineering problems relating to cable systems. Some data cabling engineers focus on new equipment for telecommunications and structured cabling systems; others work out in the field, installing and working within new and live cabling infrastructures.

Working within various environments: a range of education, health, financial, construction, MOD and operational building environments with a varied level of prestige clients.

Role Description

Engineers are also required to install, terminate and test to a high‑quality standard as per manufacturer’s guidelines whilst always maintaining a high‑quality performance of workmanship. Gain knowledge of structured cabling within Copper – Cat 6 / Cat 6A, Voice & Fibre Termination and Testing practices to manufacturers specification. Work within various other types of cabling such as security, audio visual, PA, fibre optic and voice backbone, network & telephony requirements. Problem solving & troubleshooting. An NVQ Level 3 Qualification on Installation & Inspection of Structured Cabling Systems may be offered to successful applicant, which may lead to a Modern Apprentices Completion Certificate. In house training on installation practices and termination methods will also be given within our in‑house training centre. Health & safety training/ qualifications on the dangers of working within the workplace. Career pathway with progression.

Requirements

  • Communicates effectively and appropriately whilst dealing with clients and/or personnel at all levels up to on‑site management.
  • Demonstrates initiative in being proactive and creative for self‑development within and outside of the company.
  • Hardworking and self‑motivated.
  • Able to prioritise effectively and work to set timescales and within program.
  • Work efficiently and have attention to detail.
  • Can work well with little supervision individually and within a team environment.
  • Have knowledge of basic computer skills and be able to demonstrate good writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook very helpful.
  • Desirable to obtain driving licence within 2 years of obtaining employment.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge on modern technology trends.
