Role Description
The Security Officer Stockton role at OCS is a full-time, on-site position based in Middlesbrough.
This role focuses on maintaining a safe and secure environment by monitoring premises, controlling access, and conducting regular patrols of buildings and surrounding areas.
The Security Officer will respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies in line with site procedures, complete accurate incident and shift reports, and liaise with customers, colleagues, and external agencies when required.
Day-to-day tasks include checking IDs and passes, managing visitor and contractor access, ensuring compliance with security and health and safety policies, and operating security systems such as CCTV and access control.
The role also involves providing a visible security presence, delivering professional customer service, and supporting continuous improvement of site security practices.
Qualifications
- Strong situational awareness and risk assessment skills, with the ability to identify and respond to security issues calmly and effectively.
- Experience in access control, patrolling, incident response, and the use of security systems (e. g., CCTV, alarm systems, and electronic access control).
- Clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to write concise reports, follow procedures, and interact respectfully with customers, colleagues, and visitors.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices, emergency procedures, and basic conflict management or de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to work on-site, on a rotating schedule if required, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Proven reliability, integrity, and commitment to OCS TRUE Values (Trust, Respect, Unity, Empowerment).
- Previous experience in a security or facilities setting is beneficial; a recognized security qualification or license (e. g., SIA or equivalent) is highly advantageous.
- Basic IT skills for operating security software and completing digital reports; right to work in the location and satisfactory background checks are required.
