About The Role
The earliest start time you could be required to attend is 6am and the latest finish time could be 21:00, depending on shift / site within the Greater Manchester area. The role offers a structured 12‑month apprenticeship programme combining on‑the‑job experience with off‑the‑job learning, guaranteed contract of employment for 15 months and the opportunity to progress into supervisory or specialist roles.

What You Will Learn
- Knowledge: Security legislation, organisational procedures, use of technology and equipment, emergency response, and risk assessment.
- Skills: Monitoring and patrolling premises, controlling access, conducting searches, responding to incidents, managing conflict, and handling CCTV evidence.
- Behaviours: Professionalism, vigilance, integrity, calmness under pressure, and respect for others.
What to Expect

Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service, welcoming and guiding court users.
- Monitor premises and visitors via CCTV and x‑ray machines, and conduct searches using hand‑held metal detectors and bag searches.
- Patrol and secure access to buildings, keeping in contact with the control room using hand‑held radios.
- Respond to panic alarm buttons in judges' rooms, courts and offices.
- Respond to any security issues within the complex and record and report details of incidents.
Ideal Candidate
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS and BS 7858 security clearance will be completed for the successful candidate.
- SIA licence and relevant security‑related experience.
- Strong people and customer‑service skills.
- Good diligence and high standard of work.
- Effective communication skills.
Attendance allowance of £1 per hour can be earned on contracted hours, subject to meeting certain attendance‑related criteria.
