About the Role

Shift Pattern: This role works 5 days a week with 2 consecutive days off (provided in advance). Shift timings are 0800-1630 and 1000-1830.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle day-to-day food preparation and duties assigned by senior chefs to meet site standards and quality.
  • Manage the cooking process at the assigned station, ensuring dishes are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Follow and adhere to all safety, hygiene, and correct use of department utensils and equipment on site.
  • Notify Senior Chefs of inventory shortages, ensuring the kitchen remains adequately stocked with fresh ingredients and catering necessities.
  • Work with the culinary team to maintain high-quality food and service throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a chef, preferably in contract catering.
  • Level 2 in Catering and Hospitality or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes; ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong teamwork, listening and communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal policies and procedures regarding food receipt, preparation, storage and sanitation, including recipes, production and presentation methods.

Ideal Candidate Criteria:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • City & Guilds certification, BTEC or NVQ at a basic level required.
  • Completion of a Level 2 food hygiene course desirable.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good time-management and organisational abilities.
