About the Role
The main purpose of the role is to support the day to day running of the UK Border Zone Assistants (UKBA) team, ensuring that all roles are carried out effectively, issues are addressed or escalated to management, and the standards of current processes are monitored. UKBA staff assist and guide all arriving passengers to present themselves to the UK Border as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Main Duties
- As a working Team Leader you will act as a support network for the Host team.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation, cover breaks and support during busy peak periods.
- Challenge poor performance and highlight issues or concerns to the Duty Manager.
- Build relationships with Border Force and meet daily on arrival with the duty Higher Officer to discuss routine issues and understand any difficult patches.
- Provide effective feedback to staff on performance, praise when a job is well done, and be constructive if something could have been done differently or better.
- Be flexible with shifts for the needs of the business.
- Be confident and lead by example in all areas of the role.
- Plan breaks and communicate these to the team.
- Monitor Health & Safety standards and ensure the Host sheets are regularly spot checked for accuracy.
- Support with training and development of new team members.
- Monitor staff time keeping.
