The Role: We are seeking an experienced Facilities Contract Supervisor to lead the delivery of facilities maintenance services at Lyttelton Port Company in Christchurch. This is a hands-on role where you will oversee daily maintenance operations, coordinate contractors and technicians, support client relationships, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Working closely with the National Facilities Manager and support teams, you will play a key role in maintaining service excellence across the contract.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising day-to-day maintenance and repair activities to meet client expectations and contractual requirements
  • Coordinating maintenance personnel, subcontractors, and service providers across the site
  • Monitoring job progress and maintaining accurate records within service management systems
  • Supporting preventative maintenance programmes and ensuring asset information remains up to date
  • Building positive working relationships with clients and responding professionally to enquiries
  • Conducting site inductions and supporting ongoing training and compliance activities
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety requirements and industry standards
  • Assisting with reporting, documentation, month-end processes, and operational performance reviews

About You: The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of leadership, trade expertise, and customer service skills, along with a commitment to quality and safety.

  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related trade environment
  • Carpentry and joinery trade qualifications or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to supervise and support maintenance personnel while leading by example
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and digital job management systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and maintenance documentation
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand building standards, permits, and workplace safety requirements
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to work flexibly when operational needs require
