About The Role
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
This role is ideal for a highly experienced electrician who enjoys a varied, hands‑on position and possesses strong building fabric and maintenance skills to support the wider facilities management function.
We are looking for someone to provide a professional and efficient multi‑skilled maintenance service on one site, ensuring all electrical systems, plant and equipment operate safely and effectively. The role is primarily electrically biased but also requires the post holder to undertake a wide range of general building fabric, handyman, and maintenance duties to support the effective operation and presentation of the facilities.
The successful candidate will possess strong electrical knowledge together with extensive practical experience in building fabric repairs and general maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Carry out all PPMs
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on electrical installations, lighting systems, power distribution equipment, emergency lighting, and associated controls.
- Install, test, inspect and commission electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with current electrical regulations, safe systems of work, and company procedures.
- Undertake electrical testing, fault finding and certification where authorised.
- Respond promptly to reactive electrical maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and documentation.
Building Fabric and General Maintenance
- Carry out general building fabric repairs including:
- Doors, locks, hinges and ironmongery.
- Ceilings and partitions.
- Flooring repairs.
- Painting and decorating touch‑ups.
- Tiling and patch repairs.
- Basic carpentry and joinery works.
- Minor plumbing repairs.
- Furniture and fixture repairs and more!
- Conduct routine inspections, temperature checks of building fabric and identify defects.
- Complete minor refurbishment and improvement works as required.
- Support office moves, installations and workplace modifications.
- Assist on project works
- Carry out weekly fire alarm testing
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Comply with all Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
- Prepare permits to work for contractors, supervise contractors and work in accordance with safe systems of work.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Report hazards, accidents, incidents and near misses promptly.
- Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Customer Service
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, occupants and stakeholders.
- Provide a high level of customer service and professionalism at all times.
- Ensure maintenance works are completed with minimal disruption to building users.
- Communicate effectively regarding maintenance activities, progress and completion.
General Duties
- Participate in call‑out and emergency response arrangements where required.
- Support other members of the Facilities Services team.
- Contractor supervision when necessary.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and experience.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Electrical Installation qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship.
Desirable Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing.
- IPAF Licence.
- PASMA Certification.
- First Aid at Work.
- Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH or equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Legionella training
Essential Experience
- Significant experience working as an Electrician within an office/commercial building services environment.
- Proven experience carrying out maintenance and repair of electrical systems.
- Extensive practical experience in building fabric maintenance and handyman works.
- Experience working within planned and reactive maintenance environments.
- Experience using CAFM or maintenance management systems.
