About the Role

Shift Pattern: 50% normal office hours (9‑5) and 50% operational (evenings and weekends) time to be self‑managed. This is a rare opportunity to run security operations at two of the largest arena venues in the country: BP Pulse Live and Utilita Arena Birmingham. You will lead the security and stewarding operations for over 170 events, ensuring the delivery of the safest, most welcoming venues in the UK as part of the NEC Group.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and upholding the OCS and NEC Group security strategy.
  • Empowering team members and synchronising wider security and operational teams.
  • Building robust security relationships with local and national stakeholders.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Act as subject matter expert for security, stewarding and crowd management at arenas, supporting NEC campus security stakeholders and tenants.
  • Line‑manage and lead the team of Security Event Managers and Security Colleagues at BP Pulse Live and Utilita Arena Birmingham.
  • Manage a team of 500+ casual event colleagues and support their career journey with robust training and development.
  • Manage day‑to‑day security operations across the arenas, including event and non‑event periods.
  • Lead on planning and operations for high‑risk and/or complex events, working closely with NEC Group colleagues.
  • Drive a strong culture of health, safety and security awareness, embedding clear standards into daily operations and empowering teams through training and accountability.
  • Lead investigations into security breaches or incidents and produce detailed reports.
  • Actively participate in the National Arenas Association security working group.
  • Own the profit and loss for the Arena sector, keeping within budget and raising any budgetary concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support close working relationships with other OCS colleagues who work on the NEC contract, adopting a one‑team approach with the soft services members of the team.
  • Work closely with the Contract Support Team to ensure an appropriate number of personnel to fulfill contract requirements.
  • Provide accurate and timely management reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • In conjunction with the NEC Group Operations, create and deliver a program of training and exercising, including tabletop training across both Arenas for all security stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with local policing and CTSA’s.
  • Ensure compliance from direct reports, operating within the security plan and strategy framework.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks within the scope of the role as directed.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • SIA Door Supervisor – Essential
  • SIA CCTV – Desirable
  • Level 4 Spectator Safety – Desirable
  • Level 5 Crowd Safety Management – Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely – Desirable
  • Experience of working in an arena or stadium environment at a management level.
