They have grown as a business to circa £450m and have satellite offices across the UK. They have a strong reputation with leading House Builders and continue to grow year on year.
The role involves:
- Ensuring projects are being delivered safely, within budget and to agreed standards. Ensuring all plant, labour, and material on sites under your control is properly organised and managed. Supporting the board in developing new clients and maintaining service to existing clients, securing the long-term future of the company.
- Arranging adequate resources for project delivery, safety and standards of work.
- Monitoring Safety, liaising with directors, the health and safety team and site staff as required.
- Monitoring the competence of site and sub-contractors in line with company policies and procedures on safety, welfare and environment.
- Overseeing all aspects of site management on your assigned sites, regularly visiting to inspect, offer support and adhere to agreed program/quality and building regulations.
- Managing the overall job performance. Working with the commercial team on cost advice, unexpected works, understanding the tender and agreed standards. Providing resources to enable customer care issues to be resolved effectively.
- Managing effective communication between site and office.
- Liaising with client’s staff to provide effective delivery of projects and develop long lasting relationships. Working to develop, mentor and train others.
What you NEED:
- The ideal candidate will be working within the groundworks and civil engineering industry in a similar role.
- Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Experience in a Contracts Manager position in the housing sector, with good knowledge of groundworks.
- Effective oral and written skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Very strong organisational skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Reliable and diplomatic.
- Clean driving license.
- Self-motivated.
- General education equivalent to 5+ GCSE’s grades A-C or 5-9.
- Building related competency / Project Management Certificate is desirable.
- HNC or Degree in civil engineering or structural engineering, construction management or project management is desirable.
- Health & safety on construction sites – Qualification recognised. Plant and material relevant to groundworks.
