An established civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support multiple infrastructure and groundworks projects across Bedfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams to drive high standards of health, safety, and compliance across busy construction sites.

Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture while ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with current legislation and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day health & safety support across multiple live civil engineering projects
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies
  • Assist site management teams with risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, producing reports and implementing corrective actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings to site personnel
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure safe working practices are maintained
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of health & safety procedures
  • Liaise with project managers, site managers, and external stakeholders on safety matters
  • Ensure projects comply with CDM Regulations and other relevant HSE standards
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK health & safety legislation
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence site teams
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
Desirable
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Membership of IOSH (or working towards)
  • Experience within groundworks, highways, or utilities projects
