OCS are working in partnership with a respected and growing main contractor that has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across London and the South East. Due to continued success and a healthy forward order book, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based on projects in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable leading the commercial function on projects and wants to play a key role within a collaborative and professional team.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for one or more projects, working closely with project and site teams to ensure financial control from pre-construction through to final account. Key responsibilities include:
- Full commercial management of projects from procurement to final account
- Preparing and managing budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts
- Letting and managing subcontractor packages
- Valuing works, assessing variations, and managing change control
- Preparing and negotiating interim valuations and final accounts
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Producing accurate cost reports for senior management
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level
- Background working with a main contractor on construction projects
- Strong contractual knowledge (JCT experience preferred)
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- The confidence to work autonomously while contributing to a wider team
