A leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint a Bid Lead / Pre-Construction Manager to play a pivotal role in securing future work and supporting the continued growth of the business. This is a client-facing position, based from head office, and would suit someone with a strong engineering or operational background who understands how projects are won, planned, and delivered.
The Role
As Bid Lead / Pre-Construction Manager, you will take full ownership of the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to put together compelling and competitive bids.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the end-to-end tender process
- Acting as the primary client-facing contact during the pre-construction phase
- Coordinating input from estimators, planners, and operational teams
- Developing bid strategies that align with client requirements and business objectives
- Managing tender programmes, reviews, and submissions
- Ensuring all bids are commercially sound, technically robust, and submitted on time
- Supporting post-tender negotiations and handover to delivery teams
About You
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
- A background in engineering, construction, or operations
- Experience in pre-construction, bidding, or project delivery
- Strong understanding of how construction projects are scoped, priced, and planned
- Proven ability to lead internal teams and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills
- A proactive, authoritative approach with strong attention to detail
Experience across sectors such as RC Frames, Civils, Groundworks, Demolition, or Infrastructure would be highly advantageous.
