We are working with a growing contractor who are looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to take ownership of their commercial function. This is a high-profile role with genuine progression opportunities, including the potential to progress to director level for the right candidate.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be the commercial lead, overseeing all aspects of project commercial management and contributing directly to strategic business decisions. You will work closely with the MD and operational teams, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and efficiently while supporting long-term growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial function across groundworks and small RC projects
- Report directly to MD-level, providing commercial insight and strategy
- Oversee cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and commercial agreements
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Prepare valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Work with operational teams to drive project performance and profitability
- Contribute to the business strategy and growth plans
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior QS with groundworks and small RC project experience
- Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge
- Excellent understanding of cost control, risk management, and project delivery
- Ability to work closely with senior leadership and influence strategic decisions
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field
