An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a respected main contractor on a major cut and carve redevelopment project in Central London. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience working on a complex, high-value scheme involving structural alterations, refurbishments, and heavy civil elements.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing cost control, procurement, and subcontractor packages throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll work closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting and contribute to the successful delivery of a challenging city-centre project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of cost plans, valuations, and financial reports.
  • Support procurement processes, including tendering and subcontractor management.
  • Help manage variations, change control, and project forecasting.
  • Liaise with the site team to ensure commercial and contractual compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monthly cost reviews.

About You

  • Ideally hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Have completed a placement year during university or gained at least 1 year’s post-graduate experience, ideally within civil engineering, structural, or refurbishment projects.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Keen to learn, develop, and progress within a supportive commercial team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with standard construction contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC).
