About The Role:
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified electricians with:
- Electrical installations across domestic and public buildings
- Maintenance, fault finding and repair works
- Support delivery of:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Reactive maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with:
- BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
- Health & Safety legislation
- Company and client procedures
- Maintain accurate records via CAFM systems
- Deliver high standards of customer care and professionalism when working in occupied premises
- Actively engage in both site-based and college training
Training & Development
- Attend NESCOL Training Centre, Aberdeen, on a block release basis
- Work towards a recognised qualification (e.g. SVQ in Electrical Installation)
- Develop practical competence under supervision of qualified electricians
- Progress in line with SJIB grading structure and requirements
Roles & Minimum Entry Requirements
- School Leaver Apprentice Electrician Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Minimum National 5 (or equivalent) in:
- Maths (essential)
- English (essential)
- Physics or Engineering Science (desirable)
- Strong interest in pursuing an electrical career
- Good work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
Compliance & Industry Standards
- All apprentices will operate in accordance with:
- SJIB terms, grading and apprenticeship framework
- SECCT / SELECT certification requirements
- BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
- Company policies and Aberdeenshire Council contract standards
- Apprentices will be expected to:
- Adhere to safe systems of work at all times
- Develop competence in line with industry standards
- Demonstrate professional conduct and accountability
