About The Role:
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 06:30 – 14:30. This role is based within a corporate head office environment, where you will support the smooth running of kitchen services by working alongside the Head Chef to deliver high-quality, fresh lunches for colleagues on site. The kitchen specialises in halal cuisine, so experience or understanding in this area is highly desirable. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, supporting the management of the team, maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene, and ensuring all meals are fresh, appetising, and meet customer expectations. You will work in a fast-paced environment, assisting with food preparation, service delivery, stock management, and compliance with Health and Safety regulations, while helping to develop and support the wider kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Head Chef in the preparation and delivery of high-quality, fresh meals
- Assisting in creating daily menus that reflect current food trends and support customer wellbeing and nutrition
- Preparing and delivering high-quality halal meals in line with dietary and cultural requirements
- Supporting a high-volume lunch service within a corporate office environment
- Helping to lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team
- Ensuring the kitchen operates to high company and legal standards
- Maintaining compliance with all allergy and nutrition requirements
- Supporting food preparation, stock control, and ordering
- Driving food safety standards, ensuring all compliance training and documentation is completed
- Assisting in managing kitchen operations within budgetary constraints
- Promoting sustainability and being mindful of environmental impact
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
- Have experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment preparing fresh food
- Have a good understanding or experience of halal cuisine
- Demonstrate experience supporting and developing a team
- Have strong organisational and communication skills
- Hold a Level 3 Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene (or equivalent)
