About The Role:
Shift Pattern: Varied, 5 out of hours per week. Please note: Night Shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Physically filling onboard sand containers, often using mobile units or static filling stations, as shown by Depot Rail's management
- Checking sand levels (often visible through windows) and ensuring the mechanical/pneumatic systems that deliver the sand work correctly.
- Ensuring the sand used meets strict technical specs (clean, sharp, low moisture) for effective grip, supplied by companies
- Coordinating with street sweepers to clean excess sand from tracks, as seen in cities like Melbourne, to prevent buildup
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Must have Right to Work in the UK.
- Previous experience in a manual working environment would be essential
- You will have strong communication skills.
- Willingness to work night and weekend shifts.
- Physical ability as this role can require heavy lifting

You may be required to undergo a medical and drug and alcohol test prior to starting in this role
