The Authorising Engineer ensures compliance with statutory and legislative requirements for electrical and mechanical systems. This involves developing and auditing Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), conducting risk-based technical audits to identify and address technical risks, providing technical support, mentorship and assessment of Authorised Persons and Competent Persons and enhancing technical compliance and assurance by identifying improvement opportunities across all related technical disciplines.
- Provide technical assurance support to the account, supporting the Head of Engineering & Risk Management through the Senior Authorising Engineer (SAE).
- Develop, deliver, and maintain the Technical and Safety Competency Management System (CMS), including the assessment, appointment, monitoring, and auditing of Authorised Persons (APs) and Competent Persons (CPs).
- Conduct technical compliance audits in line with the assurance plan, identifying non-conformances, recommending corrective actions, and monitoring close-out activities.
- Provide Authorised Person support and technical expertise to support operational resilience and mitigate engineering and safety risks.
- Review, develop, and maintain Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) to ensure compliance with legislative, technical, and safety requirements.
- Produce, review, and maintain technical assurance documentation, including policies, procedures, logbooks, training materials, and other management system documentation.
- Develop and communicate technical standards, guidance, and best practice documents in line with industry requirements and emerging legislation.
- Support the management and maintenance of technical assurance databases, registers, trackers, and reporting systems.
- Assist in the development, review, approval, and publication of technical communications, compliance bulletins, directives, alerts, and learning materials.
- Provide technical support for incident investigations, horizon-scanning activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of engineering assurance services.
