About The Role:
Days of Working: Monday to Friday 3pm to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday 7am to 7pm
Porters at Sussex Estates and Facilities serve as the first point of contact for students and visitors, providing assistance, minor maintenance, cleaning, and safety support. They represent the University with professionalism, ensuring a welcoming environment and upholding high standards of conduct and service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Providing information and assistance to residents and visitors.
- Handling inquiries and resolving issues related to accommodation and building facilities.
- Managing the front desk and acting as a point of contact for residents.
- Receiving and distributing mail, packages, and deliveries to residents.
- Keeping track of package storage and notifying residents of their package arrivals.
- Reporting and addressing maintenance issues within the building.
- Coordinating with maintenance staff or external contractors for repairs and upkeep.
- Conducting regular safety and security checks, including fire alarm tests and inspections.
- Being prepared to respond to various emergencies, such as fires, medical incidents, or security threats.
- Assisting in evacuations and providing support during crises.
- Managing administrative duties, such as maintaining resident directories, schedules, and key inventories.
- Assisting with room assignments, check-in, and check-out processes during the academic year.
- Building positive relationships with residents and fostering a sense of community.
- Addressing resident concerns, requests, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Enforcing University policies and regulations related to residences and student conduct.
- Collaborating with University staff or campus security as needed.
- Providing regular reports to University administration or relevant authorities about incidents, safety concerns, or building maintenance needs.
