The predicted salary is between 42556 - 52012 £ per year.

We are looking for an experienced Electrician / Electrical Engineer to undertake planned and reactive maintenance across the contract.

You will maintain, inspect, test and repair electrical building-services systems, helping to ensure the premises remain safe, compliant and fully operational.

Working closely with the Site Supervisor, you will complete all tasks safely, efficiently and within the required service-level agreements.

The position also requires participation in an on-call rota, responding to urgent out-of-hours faults and emergencies when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical repairs within agreed SLAs and KPIs.
  • Maintain, inspect and repair electrical building-services equipment, including distribution boards, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, control systems and associated wiring.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and complete repairs, component replacements and remedial works.
  • Carry out electrical testing and inspection within the scope of your qualifications and authorisation.
  • Complete routine checks of emergency lighting, fire-alarm interfaces and other electrical safety systems as required.
  • Monitor equipment condition and identify defects, deterioration or potential failures.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and respond to urgent out-of-hours maintenance issues.
  • Attend emergency call-outs within the required response times.
  • Diagnose faults, isolate equipment and make systems safe during call-outs where necessary.
  • Escalate significant faults and arrange additional specialist support when required.
  • Assist specialist contractors with servicing, repairs and statutory inspections.
  • Support the Site Supervisor with the effective delivery of contracted maintenance services.
  • Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations, health and safety requirements and site procedures.
  • Complete maintenance records, test documentation and job sheets accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare and follow risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work and safe-isolation procedures.
  • Identify additional defects or risks and report them through the appropriate channels.

Maintain a professional approach when dealing with customers, colleagues and contractors.

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer within a commercial building-services environment.
  • A recognised electrical qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent.
  • A current BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Experience completing planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power and control systems.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A sound understanding of electrical safety, safe isolation and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience working in accordance with risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work procedures.
  • The ability to organise workloads and complete tasks within agreed timescales.
  • The availability and flexibility to participate in an on-call rota and attend out-of-hours call-outs.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with building management systems and electrical control systems.
  • Experience maintaining emergency lighting and life-safety systems.
  • First Aid training.
  • IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • CSCS or ECS card, or an equivalent relevant skills card.
