Overview
As a Mobile Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer, you deliver maintenance, repairs, and select installations across commercial sites in the South West London area. You will service split AC, VRV/VRF, AHUs, heat pumps, and commercial refrigeration equipment, diagnosing faults and restoring systems. The role requires compliance with F-Gas/ODS, safety rules, and permit-to-work procedures, with strong documentation and communication. You will work independently within a small team and participate in 24/7 on-call support. This position combines hands-on technical service with client-facing collaboration to keep critical environmental systems running efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on split AC, VRV/VRF, AHUs, heat pumps, and commercial refrigeration equipment
- Diagnose faults and repair F-Gas infrastructure, electrical, and mechanical components to restore functionality
- Ensure work complies with F-Gas/ODS regulations, permit-to-work procedures, and safety standards
- Accurately complete service documentation, inspection reports, maintenance logs, and remedial records using PDA or mobile apps
- Liaise with clients, site contacts, and internal teams to minimize disruption and maintain clear communication
- Work independently on tasks while collaborating within a small team
- Participate in emergency on-call rota for 24/7 service commitment
Key requirements
- Time-served apprenticeship in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration
- City & Guilds Level 2/3 NVQ or equivalent in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Engineering
- F-Gas & ODS Regulations (Category 1 – 2079)
- Proven experience in maintenance or facilities management environment
- Hands-on experience with air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- Familiarity with split, VRV & VRF systems
- Understanding of health & safety legislation and safe working practices
- Familiarity with Permit to Work systems
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and performing manual tasks
- Competent in using handheld devices for reporting and communication
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
