Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 & Friday 08:00-15:30

Role & Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Operations Directors, Senior Operations Managers and Client representatives responsible for key accounts, assisting them to ensure that all projects in the accounts are delivered on time, to budget and agreed level of margins and to the required level of quality.

Build, Develop and Lead a team of Project Managers to successfully deliver project work to the key clients within the Frameworks division. Coordinate resources, including external suppliers and contractors within the wider Framework team and other Operations Managers.

Ensure the efficiency of the projects resources within the project teams delivering to the key clients within the Frameworks division.

The role includes:

  • Understanding the Client requirements and needs and be able to deliver a seamless operation at all times.
  • Develop excellent relationships with the Client and their professional teams.
  • Carrying out negotiations to secure project work and answer queries on tender returns maximising opportunity in line with client needs
  • Develop and manage new project business opportunities within the key accounts.
  • Being able to interpret client’s requirements, prepare scope of works incorporating programmes, budget and expectation.
  • Responsibility for the direction and management of the Projects Resource under your stewardship and delivering to the key accounts, in conjunction with the Senior OPS managers.
  • Monitor, mentor and assist Project Management teams to maximise their development and to ensure they project KPI’s and requirements are being met and exceeded.
  • Audit and review the project process are being met including SHE, design management, procurement, QA, labour and close-out.
  • Managing the project delivery within the key accounts and delivering the agreed P&L margins relative to each project.
  • Assist the Commercial teams and project surveyors in maximising the opportunities and providing feedback to the valuations and any compensation events, engaging with the Project Managers to develop their commercial knowledge.
  • Deploying the Projects and supplier resources to deliver the workload.
  • Sustaining an effective team with a balance of styles and skills.
  • Reviewing and continually improving project and safety performance.
  • Implement agreed growth and productivity targets for delivery teams.
  • Managing project risks to deliver year on year cost, time and quality predictability.
  • Ensuring Project Managers maintain or improve financial targets on each project.
  • Identify opportunities that improve the value of projects solutions.
  • Vetting and implementing a supply chain and appropriate direct labour force to deliver the required volume of work.
  • Compile monthly reports covering all aspects of projects and be able to present reports at senior teams meetings.
  • Management of the interface with the internal business partners (e.g. legal, commercial, procurement and SHEQ team).
  • Engender co-operative, outward looking team behavioural standards.
  • Carry out continuous improvement in line with the client’s requirements.
  • Delivering client satisfaction.
  • Ensuring compliance with all aspects of health & safety legislation to protect the client and the OCS Group.
  • Ensuring all Project personnel possess the necessary skills and have the appropriate training opportunities to carry out their job functions.

Experience & Skills

  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Well-rounded individual with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management at a senior level.
  • Management of the delivery of key client account project budgets varying up to the value of £8m.
  • Experience of successful delivery across current key client Framework accounts (DWP, GPA, NatWest, Scottish Power, Scottish Water etc)
  • Experience in critical plant replacement projects within a live building environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, decision making and organisational skills.
  • Lead external consultancy as part of our pre-construction process
  • Accomplished presentation skills and an ability to deliver presentations to key clients.
  • The ability to prepare full contractor proposals and cost plans including all relative documentation (Contractors proposal document, methodology, programme, full commercial returns, risk register, project execution plans etc).
  • The ability to identify and develop successful commercial propositions.
  • The ability to manage, develop and motivate the projects delivery team across all levels.
  • Commitment to personnel development and team success.
  • As a minimum PC literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Power Point.
  • Understanding of all legislative requirements that impact on the client’s accounts and all employees.

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Flexible approach to all work activities, travel between various UK locations and regional offices will be required.
  • Ability to plan various priorities in an efficient manor to ensure client and business requirements are met at all times.
