Senior Frontend Engineer role on a modern, cloud-native product platform TypeScript / React ecosystem with AWS integration and serverless architecture.

Hybrid working - Belfast. Real ownership of UI architecture, not just shipping screens.

About the Company

Our client is a fast-moving, product-led technology company headquartered in Belfast, building large-scale workflow solutions for some of the world's biggest enterprises. Their engineering culture is highly collaborative, modular, and cloud-native, with a genuine focus on quality, scalability, and doing things properly. This is a team that invests in its engineers through L&D budgets, clear progression frameworks, and a culture built around technical excellence.

The Role

This is a senior frontend engineering position for someone who thrives in TypeScript ecosystems, understands cloud-first software principles, and is motivated by clean, scalable frontend architecture. You'll take ownership of key UI initiatives across a modern platform, contributing across the full engineering lifecycle, not just shipping UIs, but helping shape how the platform operates end-to-end. You'll collaborate closely with platform, backend, and DevOps engineers, and play an active role in mentoring and raising engineering standards across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of React-based applications using Hooks, Context, and TypeScript within a monorepo environment.
  • Build scalable frontend solutions integrated with AWS services and serverless APIs.
  • Champion frontend code quality, performance, accessibility, and reusability, including component libraries such as Storybook.
  • Mentor engineers and guide best practices across testing (Jest, Cypress), CI/CD, and frontend observability.
  • Collaborate with platform teams on core decisions around authentication, analytics, real-time events, and PWA optimisation.
  • Work closely with DevOps and backend engineers in a CI/CD-driven environment using GitHub Actions, Terraform, and ArgoCD.

What You'll Need

Essential

  • 6+ years' commercial software engineering experience, including delivering React and TypeScript at scale.
  • Strong architectural background, you've built or scaled monorepos, component libraries, or complex frontend systems.
  • Hands-on AWS experience, ideally Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, and S3.
  • DevOps-aware mindset with experience in CI/CD, performance tuning, and deployment workflows.
  • A collaborative, mentoring approach with proven success in cross-functional teams.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with NestJS, GraphQL, or WebSockets.
  • Background in mobile or PWA delivery.
  • Exposure to or interest in Rust as a backend / systems language.

Why Apply?

  • 25 days annual leave plus public holidays.
  • Hybrid working from Belfast with flexible hours.
  • Health and wellness programme.
  • L&D budget, tech talks, and regular team meetups.
  • Clear career progression framework with real room to grow.
