Created to support significant organisational growth, this is an opportunity to lead, shape and scale a high-performing engineering function, overseeing a team of up to 20 engineers, driving delivery across a cutting-edge payments platform, and working closely with executive leadership to define what great engineering looks like at this business.
About the Business

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of 14 to 20 engineers, fostering a high-trust, high-performance culture
- Drive the adoption of agile practices across your teams to increase delivery velocity and reduce complexity
- Own the end-to-end delivery of engineering outcomes aligned to the product roadmap
- Collaborate with executive and cross-functional leadership to solve customer problems and shape product direction
- Champion engineering best practices across architecture, DevOps, quality and continuous integration
- Remove blockers and create the conditions for your engineers to do their best work
- Support career development and progression for every engineer in your team
- Build and maintain robust operational standards including monitoring, alerting and incident response
What You Will Need
Essential:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering management
- Proven experience leading teams of five or more engineers
- Strong background in object-oriented programming, for example Java, C# or C++
- Experience driving agile or Lean/Kanban delivery frameworks within engineering teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity
- Comfortable working with senior and executive stakeholders
- Right to work in the relevant location
Desirable:
- Experience mentoring new or developing engineering managers
- Background in payments, fintech or similarly regulated technology environments
- Exposure to DevOps tooling and continuous delivery practices
