The predicted salary is between 36900 - 45100 £ per year.

Mid to senior-level IT support and project role with a fast-growing MSP in Northern Ireland.

Broad technical scope: Microsoft 365, networking, firewalls, Hyper-V, server infrastructure.

Primarily office-based in Bangor with hybrid flexibility and client site travel across Ireland.

Salary dependent on experience and negotiable for the right person.

Real opportunity to grow with the business and shape how the technical team develops.

This is one of the fastest-growing MSPs in Ireland, having scaled around 300% in their second year and continuing to grow strongly since. They are profitable, stable, and have more work than they currently have capacity for. The team is small and close-knit, with a culture built on collaboration, trust, and doing things properly. They work with a varied client base across Ireland, delivering across infrastructure, support, and project-based IT services.

This hire sits between the existing service desk team and the senior technical and director-level resource. You will handle the escalated, more complex support tickets that need real technical depth, and increasingly take ownership of project work client onboarding, infrastructure rollouts, and smaller technical implementations from start to finish. The aim is to take meaningful work off the senior team's plate, not to slot into a rigid support function. The person who thrives here will be proactive and capable of working independently, while also being a natural fit for a small, personable team. You do not need to be a specialist in one area: broad technical knowledge and the right attitude will take you further than depth in a single stack. As the business continues to grow, so does this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own escalated support tickets that require strong technical problem-solving, going beyond first-line resolution.
  • Deliver smaller technical projects end-to-end, including client onboarding, server builds, and Microsoft 365 rollouts.
  • Manage and troubleshoot networking and switching environments across a range of client sites.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 environments, including configuration, licensing, and user-facing troubleshooting.
  • Configure and support firewalls and security infrastructure across client environments.
  • Support and maintain Hyper-V virtualised environments where required.
  • Communicate clearly with clients on-site and remotely, keeping them informed and building trust.
  • Contribute to on-call cover on a rota basis (approximately one week in five to six), with double time for any work carried out.

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • 3 years of hands-on IT support experience, ideally within an MSP or multi-client environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of networking and switching fundamentals.
  • Experience configuring and supporting firewalls.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the confidence to work through problems independently.
  • Good communication skills and a professional, client-friendly manner.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across Ireland.

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Microsoft 365 administration experience (configuration, licensing, troubleshooting).
  • Hyper-V virtualisation experience.

Why Apply?

  • Salary negotiable and reflective of your experience.
  • Hybrid working available for the right candidate.
  • On-call rota approximately one week in five to six, with double time for any hours worked.
  • Genuine career progression as the business grows not a promise, but a track record.
  • Input into technical direction and the opportunity to influence how the team and its processes develop.
  • Varied work across support and project delivery, with real autonomy rather than a narrowly defined support role.
  • A close-knit team that values the people it works with; culture is taken seriously here.

How to prepare for a job interview at Ocho

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
