About the Company
A well-established professional services firm with a growing international service line, this organisation is at an exciting stage of its development. With increasing demand for specialist indirect tax advice across a complex and varied client base, the firm is building out its VAT advisory function to support ambitious growth plans across Ireland and beyond.
The Role
This is a unique indirect tax advisory role for a technically strong VAT professional who wants to work at the more complex end of the market. With a clear focus on transactions, you will advise clients across the full deal lifecycle on VAT implications, structuring considerations and compliance risk, working alongside corporate finance and wider tax teams to deliver integrated advice on some of the most complex transactions the firm handles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead VAT advisory work on sell-side and buy-side transactions including due diligence, structuring advice and post-completion integration support
- Advise on complex VAT issues across land and property, partial exemption, capital goods scheme and option to tax
- Support clients on cross-border VAT compliance, international trade and EU VAT obligations
- Assist with HMRC VAT enquiries, disclosures and voluntary disclosures
- Manage a portfolio of clients, taking ownership of compliance delivery and client relationships at Manager level
- Identify VAT planning opportunities and risk areas for clients across a range of sectors
- Work closely with corporate finance and transaction advisory teams to deliver joined-up advice
- Contribute to business development, pitch activity and the growth of the indirect tax team
What You'll Need
Essential:
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- Manager level experience gained within a large firm, ideally BIG 4
- Strong indirect tax technical knowledge across a broad range of VAT areas
- Proven exposure to VAT in a transactions context
- Commercially minded with strong client relationship and communication skills
Desirable:
- CTA qualified or working towards it
- Experience advising on cross-border or international VAT matters
- Exposure to private equity backed transactions or owner-managed business disposals
