Senior Full Stack role at a world leading technology organisation - genuinely greenfield platform build in partnership with AWS.

TypeScript across the full stack with React, Redux, GraphQL, Terraform and AWS serverless. Work directly alongside AWS engineers on a next generation global platform. Hybrid working, Belfast based. Salary up to £65,000.

About the Company:

Our client is a world leading technology organisation operating at significant global scale - 60 offices, 27 countries, over 5,300 people. Their engineering teams build and maintain business critical systems that process enormous volumes of data and transactions daily, and they take the quality of that engineering seriously. Self organising, cross functional Agile teams, a genuine focus on cloud native architecture and automation, and a culture built around continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

This is not a company where engineers are told what to build and left to get on with it - they are involved in shaping technical direction from day one.

Why Work Here?

This is a company that is genuinely investing in Belfast. They have hired 12 engineers here already this year - not as a cost saving exercise, but because they are building serious engineering capability in Northern Ireland for the long term. The Belfast team is not a satellite office doing maintenance work. It is a core part of a global engineering organisation tackling complex, large scale problems with modern technology and real autonomy.

This particular role sits within a brand new team building a next generation platform in direct partnership with Amazon Web Services. You would be working alongside AWS engineers, learning from some of the best technical minds in the industry, on a greenfield build at global scale.

If you are a senior engineer who wants to work somewhere that takes engineering seriously, gives you the scope to influence how things are built, and surrounds you with people who care about the craft, this is worth exploring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive engineering improvements while communicating the principles behind your work to the team and wider organisation.
  • Take full ownership of design, development, testing and deployment of software across the team.
  • Support the team's engagement in a well-defined SDLC covering planning, prioritisation and delivery.
  • Lead conversations around estimation, challenge requirements and foster potential solutions.
  • Contribute to meaningful conversations about wider system architecture with engineers and leads.
  • Evolve systems towards target state architecture through refactoring and prioritisation of deliveries.
  • Work closely with Principal Engineers, Architects and Leads to ensure successful deployment into production environments.
  • Mentor junior members of the team and demonstrate strong technical competencies.

What You'll Need:

Essential:

  • 5 or more years of demonstrable industry experience as a Full Stack or Front End and Back End Engineer in TypeScript.
  • Frontend: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 and TypeScript. Strong experience with React, Redux and React Query. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL and WebSockets. Experience with CSS tooling such as Tailwind. Understanding of cross-browser compatibility. Working knowledge of Git.
  • Backend: Proficiency in backend TypeScript and/or another OOP language such as C# or Java. Strong database knowledge across SQL and NoSQL. Experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs and WebSockets. Experience with microservices architecture. Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code. Exposure to automated testing. AWS experience including Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway and AppSync.

Why Apply?

  • Salary up to £65,000.
  • Hybrid working with a Belfast base.
  • Part of a rapidly growing Belfast engineering hub - 12 new hires already this year.
  • Greenfield platform build in direct partnership with AWS - a genuinely rare opportunity.
  • Work alongside AWS engineers on cutting edge cloud architecture at global scale.
  • Real ownership of design and delivery within a new, forward looking team.
  • Collaborative, technically serious culture with access to Principal Engineers and Architects.
  • Long term investment from an organisation committed to building world class engineering in Belfast.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
