Our client is a world-leading provider of market infrastructure, connecting clients to global financial and commodities markets through data, liquidity, and electronic trading solutions. Operating across more than 60 offices in 27 countries, they are one of the largest organisations of their kind in the world. They are looking for a Production Support Team Lead to join their Belfast office. The team provides Level 2 support for a large estate of trading applications, operating in a high-profile, business-facing environment. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, and the successful candidate will serve as the local escalation point for production issues whilst leading a small but critical Belfast-based team through a period of significant change. A background in financial services or fintech is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage the Belfast-based Level 2 support team within a global production function spanning the UK, US, and Manila.
  • Take ownership of change management activity, including CAB processes, change review cadence, and weekend change execution.
  • Manage Incident, Problem, and Change Management across trading application stacks in both cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex production issues, providing deep-dive analysis and working closely with EMEA and US teams.
  • Drive automation initiatives using scripting tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl, SQL) to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the team's transition to cloud, with the environment moving towards approximately 90% cloud coverage.
  • Monitor and administer application performance, with exposure to observability tooling (currently transitioning from AppDynamics to Grafana).
  • Produce clear documentation including runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and installation procedures.
  • Coach and develop the team, manage performance, and maintain a healthy working culture under a demanding operational rota.

Experience

  • Proven experience leading a Level 2 production support team (L1 management experience alone will not be sufficient).
  • Strong technical skills across Windows Server and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Solid SQL skills (T-SQL, SSMS) and working knowledge of networking tools.
  • Hands-on experience with change management processes and tooling (CAB, ITIL-based frameworks).
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms, and automation tooling such as Ansible, Jenkins, or TFS.
  • Experience supporting applications in cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS preferred).

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, or CSS.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Database optimisation experience.
