The Role
An 11-month fixed term contract opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a busy finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Director. You will take ownership of day-to-day financial operations across financial reporting, budgeting, payroll and audit support - a broad, hands-on role with real visibility at the top of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and process daily transactions including expenses, revenue and bank deposits.
- Prepare financial statements including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports for Board and management.
- Lead budget preparation and management, monitoring expenditure and investigating variances against forecast.
- Use historical data and financial trends to forecast future financial performance.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and relevant accounting standards.
- Support financial audits by providing documentation and explanations to auditors.
- Assist with payroll including calculation of salaries, deductions and tax withholdings.
- Utilise accounting software and tools to streamline financial processes and maintain data accuracy.
What You Will Need
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, SAP, Oracle or similar) and advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Experience with HMRC regulations and payroll obligations.
- VAT and FX exposure.
- Power BI or similar reporting tool experience.
- Board reporting experience.
