About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a trusted client for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing and dynamic finance team in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to further develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced organisation. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in producing accurate financial information, supporting month-end processes, and assisting with management reporting. This role offers excellent exposure across the finance function and opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Preparing journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
  • Analysing financial performance and preparing variance reports
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Reconciling bank accounts and intercompany balances
  • Supporting VAT returns and statutory reporting
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
  • Assisting with audit preparation and responding to auditor queries
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
  • Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support across the business

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
  • Experience assisting with management accounts
  • Strong knowledge of accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent
  • AAT qualified with progression towards a professional qualification
  • Experience working in a commercial finance environment
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes
