About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a trusted client for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing and dynamic finance team in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to further develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced organisation. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in producing accurate financial information, supporting month-end processes, and assisting with management reporting. This role offers excellent exposure across the finance function and opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Preparing journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Analysing financial performance and preparing variance reports
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Reconciling bank accounts and intercompany balances
- Supporting VAT returns and statutory reporting
- Maintaining the fixed asset register
- Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
- Assisting with audit preparation and responding to auditor queries
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support across the business
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
- Experience assisting with management accounts
- Strong knowledge of accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using accounting software or ERP systems
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent
- AAT qualified with progression towards a professional qualification
- Experience working in a commercial finance environment
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes
