The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to take the next step in their career. As Assistant Accountant you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, supporting with management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will work closely with a supportive finance team and gain broad exposure across the business. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Process and post journals accurately and to deadlines
- Support with VAT returns and other statutory submissions
- Manage purchase ledger and sales ledger functions
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Produce regular financial reports for internal stakeholders
- Support the month-end and year-end close process
- Liaise with internal teams to resolve finance queries efficiently
What You'll Need
Essential:
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Organised, proactive and able to manage competing deadlines
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Nice to Have:
- AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA
- Experience with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks
- Exposure to management accounts preparation
