Data & Analytics Engineer, Ballymena, hybrid working (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Join a Northern Ireland manufacturer at the start of a major digital transformation. Own the design of a modern cloud data platform built around Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake. Clear route to Data Architect or Data Lead as the function grows. Competitive salary plus a full benefits package.

About the Company

Ocho is partnering with a leading Northern Ireland manufacturer that is investing heavily in a major digital transformation programme. The business is building its data function from the ground up, and this hire will be one of the first people shaping its platform, architecture and analytics capability. It is a rare chance to join an established, scaling manufacturer at exactly the point where data is becoming central to how it operates.

The Role

This is far more than a reporting role. You will take ownership of how data is collected, transformed, governed and consumed across the business, working closely with architecture, digital transformation and stakeholder teams to build something genuinely new. You will have real autonomy to shape tooling, standards and platform direction from day one, with a clear route towards Data Architecture and Data Leadership as the function grows. It suits someone who wants to build scalable, well governed data platforms, not simply produce dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Develop and optimise a modern cloud data platform
  • Build semantic models, datasets and data products for business users
  • Deliver Power BI reports and dashboards where required
  • Implement data governance, quality and security best practice
  • Design scalable data architecture to support future business growth
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand how data is generated and used
  • Champion self service analytics across the organisation
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements
  • Mentor colleagues and promote engineering best practice across the wider technology team

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • 3 to 7 years' experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering
  • Track record designing and building production grade data pipelines
  • Strong data modelling, data warehousing and ETL/ELT development skills
  • Excellent SQL and a solid understanding of modern cloud data platforms
  • Commercial experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Snowflake
  • Experience working with dbt in a production environment
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and data governance/quality frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A proactive approach, confident introducing new ideas and challenging existing process

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Tableau and/or Azure Data Factory
  • Python
  • Exposure to CI/CD for data platforms or AI enabled analytics

Why Apply?

  • Join at the start of a major digital transformation programme, with real ownership from day one
  • Competitive salary plus a full benefits package
  • Hybrid working: 3 days onsite in Ballymena, 2 days remote
  • Work with modern technology including Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake
  • Shape the tooling, architecture and long term data strategy for the whole organisation
  • Clear progression towards Data Architect or Data Lead
  • Collaborative engineering culture with genuine investment in AI and emerging technology
